Skyping it up...

Well last night was a bit of fun. My first experience with Skype was definitely fun. It kind of felt like fumbling around in the dark looking for a light switch. Having a look at the scripts of the two group chats on the discussion board, the traffic reminds me of the apparently random movement of scooters I saw in Ho Chi Minh City. People eventually got where they were going but not necessarily in the most efficient manner. Nonetheless, I'm sure everyone would agree there was a bit of vicarious learning occuring throughout the process.

See you online,

Michael

Interesting analogy with the scooters, I think there were a cpl of digital fender benders in that chat room.

The biggest break through for me was realizing that new chats were appearing on top of old ones. Once I figured out that I could drag and drop the windows, having multiple chats was possible.

Well unfortuanately I have learned that the software is a bit different in functionality depending on what platform you use. I use OS X not XP or Vista. The OS X version does not support SkypeCasts. In fact, The Windows version is up to 3.1.0.152 whereas the Mac version is only 2.6.0.72. This is why I haven't been participating on the Thursday night activities. A real shame too, reading the scripts after the fact without the ability to "speak" out is frustrating and feels isolated (more so than the distance thing already is).
